You can’t expect to live a vibrant life when you live on Twinkie consciousness.

Hey there all you lovely people. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Ours was great for the most part. We hung out with family and friends all weekend. We spent time at the beach, had a 90th B-day celebration for my grandpa, dinner with friends, vegan cinnamon rolls for Father’s Day breakfast, some pool time at a friends, and family movie night to finish off the weekend. We stayed up way to late both nights which resulted in an emotional Sunday for me. I couldn’t even make it through the family movie. Thankfully I don’t do that too often anymore. Sleep is amazing!
With it being the first day of Summer and one of our favorite things to do this time of year is go to the beach I wanted to share with you how we stay plant strong at the beach. Healthy living is a lifestyle, and so easy anywhere you go. Some places might take a little prep work, but your health is worth it. So, leave all the packaged junk at the store and pack these healthy foods for your beach, lake, river, park or hike trip.
Watermelon– Sweet, refreshing & hydrating this is one of our favs for all outdoor fun. Smoothies-Another simple, easy to prep and take in a cooler on your outdoor adventure. Here are a couple of my smoothie recipes: Go to Green Smoothie & My Favorite Smoothie. Smoothies like watermelon are sweet, refreshing and hydrating.
Bananas– A grab and go fruit. So simple! Make sure you eat your bananas when spotty. This is when they are ripe, sweater, and better for digestion. Nuts & Seeds-Another grab and go. A crowd pleaser, nutritious and filling.
Homemade Snack Balls-Homemade snack balls are fun to make with the kids, easy to store in fridge or freezer and then pack in a cooler before you had outdoors. Kids love these, they are filling and delicious. There are so many recipes out there. I will be posting a recipe soon for some so stay tuned. In the mean time just search Pinterest for them.
Your Favorite Fruit-Pretty much any fruit is a great grab and go snack. There is no packaging so no worry of leaving liter on our beautiful planet. Take yours and your kids favorite and munch on that.
Other fruits we often take are apples, oranges, jackfruit(tropical AWESOME fruit, takes some prep), strawberries, cantaloupe(some prep) and grapes(try freezing them and then take to beach… so yummy).
So many have a hard time getting their kids to eat healthy snacks. My tip is don’t buy the junk, and pack only fruit, nuts and/or seeds and when hungry they will eat it. Same for you, if it is not around you will not be tempted. Choose healthy, teach healthy habits to your children. Set an example!
BE THE CHANGE!
I hope you all enjoy your week and your summer.
