There’s only one thing more precious than our time, and that is who we spend it on.

Hey! Hope you all are doing great. Over the last couple of weeks I have had one on one time with family, and with my man. Today I wanted to talk to you about the importance of Family time and what our family time looks like.
Family time is so important and your kids need to know the importance of it so they carry it on with their little family one day. I am not talking about family time while hanging with other families, friends, extended family etc. I am talking about your intimate little family. All the other time with extended family and friends is important and valuable as well, but we need to make sure we have a close connection with our intimate family.
I got to thinking about this last week when we took our son to Great Wolf Lodge for his birthday. We had invited other family and friends, but as it turns out no one was able to make it, and I ended up being happy about that because I felt that we needed some just us family time. You see we tend to always be together, but other people tend to be around which is awesome, but when that is the case the kids are entertained by other kids and we are conversing with other adults and we are not really interacting with each other. Now believe me I LOVE our community of family and friends and love the adult interaction and the kids being entertained by others as I need that a lot since I am with the kids all the time, BUT we need to be concious about spending time just the four of us to. That weekend was a great weekend. We all laughed together, played and were completely immersed in each other. It was also nice that we were away from the house so we did not have any other distractions(cleaning, cooking, yard work etc.) It was just us, having fun! The kids loved it. They did not once say they wanted other kids to play with, they just played with us. So, make sure you take time for just your little family. You will be closer, and create great memories that way. If you create a habit of this when they are young and show them the importance of it, by the time they are teens they will still be close to you and value the family time.
Here are some other ways you can incorporate family time into your week, month, year.
- Camping trips
- Bike rides
- Picnic at the park
- Beach days
- Sitting down as a family for dinner and talking about your day or any meal
- Evening walks
- Paddle boarding, canoeing etc.
- Water Parks
- Amusement Parks
- Family Game Nights
What special things do you do for family time? Please share in the comments below. I hope you all are having a great week.
PS~ the top picture is from Tristin’s 5th Birthday and the one below is from this year. I had a family one at Christmas, Halloween in the pumpkin patch and Belle’s Birthday. I seriously need to have family photos done, and some of just me for my blog.
